Test

Favela Brush

Messing with a brush I made out of a Brazilian favela. This was made in less than twenty minutes with 3 brushes (My favela brush, square, soft round). I need to yank that neon out though.

What road am I to follow...

What a dramatic post title. What does it mean?

It actually means nothing. I'm just tired of lame post titles to show a small bit of progresion on a pieces. Here's where I think Anglerfishman is heading. I love pieces like this, it was formed from nothing. Scribbles overlaid on top of each other. Originally it was a cheesy Superman and a venus flytrap. Two seprate quick scribbles. Now I have Anglerfishman's whole fictional universe almost worked out (including the heroic oceanic crime fightin' brigade, The MacGregors! Think Irish Jacque Cousteau meets a rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. agency).

Anyway, i like it so far.

Anglerfishman!

Lunch goof. Might mess with. Digging myself a hole in work that needs to be completed before the Spectrum 16 deadline.

Taking a 'fiver...

Ok...'tenner. Spent a little under ten minutes on this, a frustration at work with PS. Grrr! opened Painter in spite, messed with oil brushes. I'm starting to dig those. Anyway, fast but fun. Now I'm relaxed back to [TOP SECRET].

Not what I planned on working on. Quick goof off drawing that I think I'll color.

Zombie comic done for now...

I need to proof read and rewrite this. It's pretty bad, but I just want to move on for a bit. So here it is 90% done and shelved for the time being.

Page 3, still early....

New Leyendecker book is a steal for 31 bucks on Amazon.

Art in stop motion....

What I wouldn't give for a block of two straight hours. This wasn't working well in the beginning, but is shaping up now. As soon as I looked at some Leyendecker art it took off, but the my kid woke up. Start, stop, start, stop....ugh. Oh well, I wouldn't trade being a parent for the world.

Page 2 begun

Almost zero time tonight. I was really excited to work on it too. I got maybe a broken up hour. Changed a lot of the panels too. Not to sure if it's working yet. Anyway, here's hoping for more time soon.

Page 1

Still needs some work, but here it is. Finally had a few moments to work on this. Just got back from a great trip to Colorado. Good God that's a beautiful state.

Just 2 more pages to go, expect this done maybe next year....sigh.

Life begins at 33...

For the first time in my life I'm taking art a bit more seriously. It's always been for fun, and I've skated by without putting to much into it. Recently I started working with a guy named Peter Clarke, he's truly amazing. That blended with influences from around the office, and the excitement of learning from Jaime Jones has caused me to look at what I do, and how I do it. Sadly upon reflection, I have no answers. Hopefully this is signaling (at age 33) a new day for me, and a new direction for how I work. All that being said.....here's a quick sketch.

Color

Messing around, nothing serious, but there are some things I like in this. I was planning on starting the next page, but Photoshop was freaking on me. In an odd twist I opened Painter which ran like butter...if butter was a smooth running art program. I used Leyendecker (sp?) as my inspiration. It's odd using him for a zombie comic.I failed at what I was hoping would happen, but maybe I'll follow this road that has started.

In other news, art will be slow at home, watching The Wire season 5 from Netflix right now. Oh, McNutty.

Rough Page 1

My youngest was not cooperating tonight, so not as much finished as I had hoped.

Panel 1

I planned on doing a page a night of my zombie mini comic. It would have been done in three nights, so far....a panel.....almost. Hopefully the others go quicker.

COOLBOT

Ok, so not art, but seriously, how cool is Coolbot? I took the pic at about five in the morning right as the sun was rising. Ah, those were the days, now that summer is over I can reflect on it. Kind of sucks it's still August though....

Randomness

I love messing with photoshop. It's almost too easy. This quick fella went from Frankenstien to a vampire, to a zombie Cletus looking fella. I might add to the last version. I like the shape of the head. The other is a test image for a comic I'm trying to do. Ever so slowly.

Zounds! There be wizards here!

I saw that the mega talented John Nevarez hooked me up on his 'cool links' post again. Since most of what I've been posting has been junk lately, I sketched out a wizard last night in the hopes of making something cool for people to see. I sort of failed. It was really stylized, but I kept breaking the shapes I have given myself to use, so in the end it sits in that awkward unplanned place. You can really see it in the arms, had I stayed on track the size difference wouldn't have mattered, as it is, it just looks bad. This is the raw scan, I might clean it up a bit, might just start over though.

speedy

Almost didn't post this. It was done super fast, testing my new brushes.

Quick goof off

Into physics and the whole what makes matter have mass thing science is close to solving (LHC dudes). For some reason, it made me think of a fetus. So I drew it.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....

Quick Lunch and an update.

I have lots to write about, but not the time. I'll write more on my nasty leg infection later. Basically been out of commission for a couple of weeks. Bottle's too rendered.
